Guidelines: IELTS Writing Exam!

  • Never start any task without carefully analyzing. Instead, spend few minutes on planning and even spend some time in making notes.
  • You should explain your ideas with relevant examples.
  • You will receive no marks if you copy a complete sentence/question from the question paper. If you do so, the words written would not count towards the minimum word length of 250.
  • You should avoid using same ideas repeatedly as it will show lack of ideas and your poor attempt on a task and that may lead to losing your points.
  • Always try to keep focus on the topic. Do not write irrelevant.
  • You should always keep some spare time, for e.g. 3-4 minutes for the purpose of re-reading and correcting your answers.
  • You must use only formal language and not jargon.
  • As there is a time- limit involved, constantly try to utilize the time in an apt manner by spending approximately 20 minutes on Task 1 and approximately 40 minutes on Task 2.
  • Writing less than the word limit would charge you a penalty. So you must have to write at least 150 words for Task 1 and at least 250 words for Task 2.
  • You will not be penalized if you exceed the word limit. You can write as much as you want to.
